We are deeply concerned with the recent escalation of aerial bombings of unarmed communities of farmers, indigenous people, and settlers by the Philippine government in their counter insurgency campaign.  We demand an immediate stop to the bombings and a return to the scuttled Peace negotiations by the government and the National Democratic Front.

Immediately, we call on the parties to observe what has already been agreed between the parties, the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees and the release of the Peace Talk negotiators.

We believe that a sincere Peace negotiations between the Philippine government and the National Democratic Front addressing the social, political and economic roots of the war will be the most effective resolution of the armed conflict that has been going on for the past fifty three years, and for achieving just and lasting peace.
